Breast  Reduction is a procedure that  breast tissue and skin are  removed in order to achieve smaller, lighter and tighter breasts. In breast reduction operations areola on the nipples is reduced to normal size. The aim of the operation is to achieve more suitable breast sizes. There are many techniques of breast  reduction,  the mostly used one is an ellipse shaped  incision   on the periphery of areola. In the method  named Vertical Breast Reduction instead of large “T” shaped incision after operation  “I” shaped  trace is formed. Excess breast tissue, fat and skin tissue are  removed according to   planning, areola is placed back  and better shape is given to the breasts. For better result liposuction can be additionally made  on the fatty region next to the  under arm area.

-  First examination should be done carefully by your doctor.
- You should   give accurate information about your  patient story   to  your doctor .
-  Your anamnesis about  drug allergies, medications used, the previous operation story  should be determined.
 
Procedure:
The operation lasts  2-4   hours.    
 
Side effects and risks: 
Bleeding, infection and reactions to anesthesia are among the possible risks. On some patients small wound may occur around the areola,  then it  can be healed with  antibiotical creams. Permanent scars on  the cut places can be seen especially in patients who smoke. Some of the possible complications are differences in sizes of breasts, differences in nipples and temporary sensory differences.

Recovery Period:
Patients can turn back to their  normal social life and work in 2 weeks time. Movements as lifting and pushing can be done after 3-4 weeks. Breasts achieve their new shape in a period of 6 months -1 year.
 
Procedure  and anesthesia
The operation is  performed under general  anesthesia in hospital.
 

Result
The result is long lasting. Hormonal differences and differences  in weight, aging, pregnancy may affect the result.
